My recent trip to Ghana, February 6th to March 6th '13, was a very busy one. I among other things discovered the serious lack of music education in local schools, all over the country.
It is about time Ghanaians realised the wealth of their culture. This project will address the potenetial that Ghana has in its rich cultural resouces. The great diversity of this culture, and the unique collection of indigienous instruments.
Musical heroes, like the late Eprhaim Amu will be studied, and emphasis on creative projects, that relate to improving the envioronment by using our rich culutural resources.
I have over the years incorporated the pentatonic xylolophone, the attentenbe(bamboo flute), the Goji(one string fiddle, and the koliko(two string banjo), plus the fascinationg Wia flute(overblown three hole flute, similar to the ocarina).
There is also the great 'muso-adventure' of fusing jazz and Ghanaian rhythms/melodies, even using both western, and african instruments.
